Deep Welcoming
There is an involuntary response, a reflex, wired at a biological and ancient level, that this practice demands to overcome. The pharyngeal reflex exists for biological reasons, as protection. Learning to release it, to consciously choose openness where the body sets itself up for closure, requires a quality of trust and a quality of presence that goes far beyond the mechanical. This is why deepthroating, practised with intention, is as much a mental discipline as a physical one.
The process starts with breathing. Specifically, with learning to breathe in a rhythm that keeps the throat relaxed, which prevents the anticipatory tension that triggers the reflex before contact even occurs.
